Randhan

We are tucked away in Afsar Lane, over in the Lakhtokia area of Guwahati. Being in Fancy Bazar means it’s always crowded and there’s never a quiet moment from morning until night. S S Road is just a stone's throw away, so there are always shoppers and vendors moving about right outside. Our place, Randhan, is quite small and easy to miss if you aren't looking for it specifically. It’s a bit cramped inside because space is hard to find in this part of the city. We don't have any fancy signs or big windows. Most of the people who eat here are workers from the market or folks who have been shopping all day and need a break. The heat in Guwahati can be tough, and our little spot gets quite warm in the afternoons. We just serve simple meals that fill the stomach. Nothing on the menu is complicated or strange. We spend a lot of time cleaning up after the lunch rush because the market outside is quite messy. It’s a lot of manual work, from carrying supplies through the narrow lanes to cooking over the big stoves. We’ve been here for a good while and have seen the market change quite a bit. Despite the noise and the crowd, we just keep doing what we do. It’s a basic life, and we are fine with that. No big plans, just serving food to whoever walks in.
