About Rahman Staitonery – Books & Knowledge in Guwahati
You can find my shop out in Vill Baihata Chariali, right along NH 37. It is in the Khetri area of Kamrup district. Being on the highway means we see a lot of different people passing through Guwahati. I have been here at this spot for a long time now. The sign says Rahman Staitonery, even though the spelling on the board is a little off from how some people write it. I sell the usual things like pencils, chart papers, and notebooks for the local school kids. Since we are on the main road, sometimes drivers stop by for a quick bit of paper or a pen. It gets dusty because of the trucks going by on the NH 37, so I have to wipe down the glass counters quite often. The police station is not too far away, so it feels like a safe enough spot. I usually sit on my wooden stool near the entrance and wait for customers. It is quiet during the middle of the day when the sun is hot, but it picks up in the evening. I don't have any big staff or anything, just me and sometimes a relative helps out if I have to go into the city for more stock. It is a humble business, nothing fancy at all. We just provide what the village needs. Most of my customers are regulars who I have known for years.
