Our office is on S C Goswami Road in the Pan Bazar area. Macmillan Publishers India Ltd. has been here for quite some time. Pan Bazar is the kind of place that feels like the heart of the city’s old trade. S C Goswami Road is often crowded with people and the occasional stray animal. It’s not a very wide road, so things can get a bit tight. Our building is an old one, with high ceilings and thick walls that keep out some of the city noise. We don't have a modern reception desk or a fancy elevator. It’s mostly just stairs and rooms filled with paper and desks. We like the atmosphere of Pan Bazar. There is a lot of history here and you can feel it in the buildings. We spend our days dealing with papers and records. It’s a lot of quiet work, even though the world outside is very loud. Sometimes we go out for a walk along the road just to clear our heads. You can find almost anything in the shops around here. We are just one part of this busy community. We don't make a big show of things. We just come in, do our work, and head home when the sun goes down. It’s a steady, reliable place to be and we have no plans of being anywhere else for now. It feels like home after all these years of being on this street.
