Poha Manufacturing Plant

Our plant is located down in Dawari, specifically on Street No 1 at Chandmari Road. It’s an industrial spot, which is good because the machines we use for making poha are quite loud and run for hours. We spend a lot of time cleaning the rice and then flattening it out. The whole place usually has a dusty smell of grain, which you get used to after five minutes. We are a small group of workers here. Some of us have been doing this for a long time, while others are newer. It’s a physical job. Moving the heavy bags of paddy is probably the hardest part of the day. We don't have a front desk or a lobby. If you come by, you’ll just see us in our work clothes near the dryers or the rollers. The floor is usually covered in a bit of husk, no matter how much we sweep. It’s just the nature of the work. We focus on the daily output and making sure the machines don't break down mid-shift. Street No 1 is pretty narrow, so it's a bit of a squeeze when the transport arrives. We don't do anything fancy, just produce the flakes and bag them up for the local markets. It’s a routine we’ve stuck to because it works for us. It isn't easy work, but we focus on getting the bags filled and loaded every single afternoon. This street has been our base for a long time now.
