Our office is at 107, Shanti Niketan, on the first floor. We are right on Jail Road in Fancy Bazar, Guwahati. Being opposite the Central Jail means it is a landmark that no one ever misses when they are trying to find us. Fancy Bazar is the heart of the city, so it is incredibly crowded every single day. The streets are narrow and full of rickshaws, delivery vans, and vendors. Getting to our building can be a bit of a struggle sometimes through the midday crowds. Shanti Niketan is an older building with a lot of character and history. The hallways are a bit dark, but once you get into our space on the first floor, it opens up a bit. We have a lot of old wooden furniture that has been around since the company first started. P K Sethia and the staff keep things running. There is always a stack of documents waiting to be signed or filed away. We don't have air conditioning, just some big ceiling fans that move the humid Assam air around. It gets very hot in the summer, but we are all used to it by now. The noise from the market outside comes up through the windows, but we don't really mind. It feels like being right in the middle of everything. We take our tea breaks together and talk about the local news or the market prices. It is a very traditional, no-nonsense kind of office.
