Our workshop is located near Railway Gate No 6 in the Kumarpara area of Guwahati. If you’ve ever been around here, you know how it is when the trains go by—everything shakes a little bit and the bells start ringing. It’s a very industrial part of the city, which suits an engineering company like ours. We have a lot of heavy machinery and metal parts sitting around the shop floor. It’s not the cleanest place in the world, but it’s an engineering shop, so that is to be expected. There is always the smell of oil and metal in the air. We’ve been at this Kumarpara location for quite a few years now. The staff mostly consists of local guys who know their way around a lathe or a welding torch. We don't have a fancy front office; you basically just walk into the main work area. Sometimes the traffic near the railway gate makes it hard for deliveries to get in, so we have to plan around the train schedules. It can be a bit of a hassle, but we are used to it by now. The 781009 area has its own rhythm, and we are just a small part of it. We spend our days fixing things and making parts, keeping the machines running as they should. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know how to do.
