Suryansh Kala Vatika

This place is tucked away in Sarai Alahwardi, over in Sector 23. It’s a bit of a quiet spot compared to the busier parts of the city. We started Suryansh Kala Vatika because we had the space and we liked the idea of having something local. It isn't a massive gallery or a fancy showroom. It’s more like a workshop where things happen slowly. We have some pieces sitting around and some projects half-finished. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we haven't gotten around to it yet. People from the neighborhood sometimes wander in just to see what we are doing. We don't really have a big staff, just a couple of us who know the area well. The street outside is mostly residential, so it stays pretty calm. Sometimes we sit outside on plastic chairs when the weather is nice. We aren't selling anything with a big sales pitch. If someone likes what they see, that’s good. If not, they just move on. It’s a very relaxed way of doing things. We’ve been at this Sarai Alahwardi location for a few years now. It feels like home more than a business. We don't follow a strict schedule always. If the door is open, we are here. If it’s locked, we might be out getting supplies. It’s just how we run things in Sector 23. We keep it simple.
