Surbhi Art Jewellery

Working here at Surbhi Art Jewellery in the DLF City Center is quite different from a street shop. We are at unit CS-003, right on the Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road. The mall opens up late in the morning, so we usually have a slow start with some tea while waiting for the first visitors. It gets pretty crowded on weekends when people are out for movies or dinner. Our space isn't huge, but we have enough room for the glass cases where we keep all the pieces. Sometimes the lights in the mall flicker a bit, which is annoying, but we manage. Most of our day is spent cleaning the glass or rearranging the necklaces so they look alright under the spots. It’s cool inside because of the central AC, which is a relief when the Gurgaon heat hits forty degrees outside. We see a lot of different faces every day. Some people just come in to browse while they wait for their friends. We don’t mind. It’s just how it is in a shopping center. The traffic on MG Road is always a nightmare, so I usually try to leave a bit early or stay late to miss the rush. We’ve been at this spot for a while now and most of the other shopkeepers around here know us. It’s a busy life, but it keeps us on our toes and the days go by pretty fast.
