Rohit Provision Store

Down in DLF City Phase I, at O 6, is where Rohit Provision Store sits. It’s a small shop packed with everything from bags of rice to bars of soap. We’ve been serving the people in this neighborhood for quite a while now. The shelves are narrow and go all the way to the ceiling, so we have to use a ladder to reach the stuff at the top. Every morning the milk and bread crates arrive before the sun is even fully up. We spend the first hour of the day just putting things where they belong so people can find them easily. It gets busy in the evenings when everyone is coming home from work and realizes they forgot to buy salt or tea leaves. We know most of the families around here and what they usually like to buy. If a kid comes in for a chocolate bar, we usually know which one they’re looking for before they even ask. We don't have a computer system to track everything; we mostly just use a notebook and a pen to keep our records. The floor gets a bit muddy when it rains because of people coming in from the street, so we keep a broom handy. It’s a simple life behind the counter, just talking to neighbors and making sure we don't run out of the basics. It’s what we do every day without much fuss.
