Our office is over at 718 in H Block, Palam Vihar. It’s a quiet residential block for the most part, until you step inside our door. We deal with commodities, so there are always phones ringing and people checking the latest prices on their screens. It’s a lot of fast-paced talking and scribbling notes on pads of paper. The desks are usually covered in printouts and old coffee mugs. We’ve been in this part of Gurgaon for quite some time now. The light in the office is a bit bright, which is good because we have to read a lot of small print. We don't have any big corporate art on the walls, just some charts and a clock that’s a few minutes fast. Everyone knows each other here, and we usually end up talking about the markets during our lunch break. Sometimes we go out to the local market in Palam Vihar to grab some food. It’s a basic office where we put in the hours and watch the numbers change. We don't really have a lot of visitors, so we don't worry too much about having everything perfectly tidy. As long as the phones work and the internet stays connected, we can do our jobs. It’s a steady place to work, even when the markets get a bit wild and the noise level in the room goes up significantly. We keep a stack of newspapers on the side table for anyone who wants to read the headlines during a quiet moment in the afternoon.
