Mukesh General Store

Mukesh General Store is situated on Basai Road. It’s a spot where the traffic never really stops and there is always something going on outside our door. Everything you might need for the day is sold here. Bags of rice and flour sit on the floor while rows of spices fill the shelves. Even though it's not a very big shop, we make use of every inch of space. A lot of time goes into stocking the shelves and making sure we have what the locals look for. Because Basai Road is a busy stretch, people often pop in while they are on their way somewhere else. At our small counter, we handle the cash and talk to the regulars. The stone floor is old and has seen a lot of feet over the years. Fancy air conditioning isn't something we have; just a ceiling fan that spins all day. Mornings find us out front helping the milk delivery guys. This routine has been followed for a long time. Reliable is what the shop is, even if it isn't shiny or new. We know which neighbors like which tea and who comes in for bread at five o'clock. It’s just a normal general store on a busy road where we do our daily work. We keep things simple and try to keep everything in stock so nobody leaves without what they came for.
