Gupta Provision Store

Our shop is located at 322/3 right by the Ramlila Ground in Sadar Bazar. Being so close to the ground means it gets very lively when there are events or festivals happening nearby. We mainly deal in daily provisions and household stuff that people need for their kitchens. It’s a small space, so we have to stack things all the way up to the ceiling to make room for everything. I’ve been sitting at this counter for many years, watching the neighborhood change around me. My son helps me out during the busy evening hours when everyone comes home from work. We have a lot of large jars filled with pulses, rice, and spices. It takes a lot of time to weigh everything out and pack it into small bags. The floor is made of old stone and it’s seen a lot of foot traffic. We don't have any flashy signs or computer systems here. Everything is done the old way with a paper notebook and a pen. Sometimes the delivery guys leave the sacks on the sidewalk and we have to haul them inside ourselves. It’s hard on the back, but we don't complain. We know most of the families who live on this street and we hear all the local news from them. It’s a small business but it keeps us busy from morning till night. We just focus on keeping the shelves full and helping the neighbors get what they need for their daily meals.
