Our office is located at 818 in Phase-5 of Udyog Vihar. It’s an industrial area, so there’s always trucks moving around and people rushing to get to their shifts in the morning. We’ve been here for several years. The building is pretty standard for this part of Gurgaon, with gray walls and a big metal gate at the entrance that needs a bit of oil. Inside, we have our desks and some drafting tables where we spend most of our time. It gets quite hot in the summer months, so the ceiling fans are always running at full speed to keep us comfortable. We try to keep things quiet so we can focus on the technical drawings and calculations, but the noise from the factory next door sometimes comes right through the walls. We usually bring lunch from home in tiffin boxes and eat together at the big table in the back room. There isn’t much to look at out the window except other industrial buildings and the occasional tree struggling in the heat and dust. The commute here can be a bit of a headache with the traffic on the highway, but we’re used to it by now. We keep a stash of biscuits and tea bags in the drawer for when the afternoon slump hits us. The flooring is a bit scuffed from moving heavy equipment around over the years. We just keep our heads down and do the work.
