Batar Building Material is at Plot No-237/31 in Laxman Vihar. We’re in Gali No-2, which is right near Radhey Sweets. If you can smell the sugar and frying, you’re close to our door. Phase-2 is a busy area these days. We’ve watched many houses go up around us while we've been here. We sell the basic things people need for construction. Things like bricks and bags of cement. The shop isn't pretty to look at. It stays dusty and full of heavy stacks. That’s the nature of the building trade. We don't have a secretary or anyone to answer phones. If the bell rings, one of us just wipes our hands and answers it. Sometimes the delivery trucks get stuck because Gali No-2 is quite narrow. It can be a tight squeeze. We know everyone who lives and works in this lane. It’s a tight-knit spot. We aren't looking to expand into some massive chain of stores. We just do what we can for the folks in Laxman Vihar. It’s a lot of lifting and my back feels it by the end of the shift. But we like being part of the local scene. It’s practical work with no fluff. Just Batar Building Material doing the same job every day. We close up when it gets dark and go home to rest for the next morning. It’s good work and it's what we know. We aren't trying to be fancy, just helpful.
