Our place is down in Pandey Ghat which is one of the older parts of Varanasi. The address is D.24/22 and it sits right in those narrow lanes that the city is famous for. Living and working here is a bit different than in a big modern city. Things move at their own pace. You can hear the bells from the temples and the sound of the river nearby if it’s a quiet morning. We have been operating out of this building for quite a while. It has thick walls and keeps the heat out somewhat during the summer months. The streets outside are usually crowded with people walking down to the water or cows just standing around. It’s a bit of a squeeze to get supplies in sometimes but we manage. We aren't doing anything flashy here. It is just a straightforward business where we handle our daily paperwork and talk to the neighbors. Most people around here know who we are because we’ve been at this spot for so long. Varanasi is a place where history is everywhere you look and our little office is just a small part of that. We open up early and close when the sun starts to go down. It’s honest work and we like being part of the life here at the ghats. It’s noisy and dusty and beautiful all at the same time. We just keep things running.
