The Bristol Hotel

This place is tucked away in Upper Rajeev Nagar, near Nehrugram. If you’re heading towards Dharampur (Danda) in Dehradun, you’ll find us. Dehradun is different now than it used to be, much more crowded, but this spot stays relatively quiet. We have rooms for people who are passing through or maybe visiting family nearby. It’s a hotel, but it feels more like a house sometimes because of how the staff talks to everyone. The air is a bit better up here than in the main city center. We spend a lot of time keeping the garden tidy because the mountain rain makes everything grow so fast. Sometimes the power goes out when there’s a storm, but we have a backup generator. We keep the lobby simple. It's not one of those huge places where you get lost looking for your room. You walk in, see the desk, and that’s it. My uncle started this years ago. We serve breakfast, mostly local stuff that we like eating ourselves. In the evenings, you can hear the birds before it gets dark. People usually find us by word of mouth or because they missed a turn on the main road. We don't do much advertising. We just make sure the sheets are clean and the tea is hot when guests arrive. It’s a decent place to stay if you don't like the noise of the main roads. We're just glad to be here in Uttarakhand. It is a quiet life for us most days.
