We’re located at number 2 Naharpur Chowk, right there on the Delhi Jaipur Highway. It’s a very noisy place to have a shop because of all the big lorries and buses constantly passing by. We deal with electric tools, so the shop is usually filled with the sound of someone testing a drill or a grinder. There’s always a bit of a smell of grease and electricity in the air, which I’ve grown to like. We keep a lot of different brands and types of tools on the shelves, from heavy-duty stuff for construction to smaller things for home use. The floor is usually a bit dirty from people coming in with boots from the nearby sites. We don’t mind it much. It’s a busy junction, so we get a lot of random people stopping because they saw the sign while waiting at the light. We have to keep things moving fast because people are usually on their way to a job. Sometimes we fix things right here on the bench if it’s a simple problem with a cord or a switch. It’s just me and a couple of guys working the counter. We don’t have any fancy displays, just the tools in their boxes or sitting out so people can feel the weight of them. It’s a straightforward business and we’ve been at this chowk for quite some time now.
