Order Taker

We are right in the thick of things at 2527/66 Nalwa Street in Pahar Ganj. If you know New Delhi, you know that this area is always moving and always loud. Our spot is tucked away among all the shops and the people walking through the narrow lanes. The office is small and usually smells like the street food from the stalls just outside the door. We spend most of our time at Order Taker just dealing with the phones and writing things down as fast as we can. It’s a bit chaotic some days, especially when the fans are humming and everyone is trying to talk over each other. The building is old, and the walls have some cracks that we’ve just stopped noticing. We don’t have a fancy waiting area or any of that. It’s just a practical space where we can do our jobs without too many distractions from the outside world. There is a lot of history in these streets, and we feel like a small part of the local bustle. Most of us have been here long enough to know exactly which turn to take to avoid the biggest crowds at lunch. It’s hard work and the space is tight, but we get things done. We don’t put on any acts; we just show up, take the orders, and head home when the sun goes down.
