Night Supervisor

This is the spot over at Parthenon, near the M.D.I Hostel on Meruli Road in Sukrali. Anthoney Lepcha handles things here as the night supervisor. It’s a bit different working when the sun is down and most people are sleeping. The area gets really quiet after ten, which makes it easier to focus, though the street lights outside sometimes flicker. We are usually at the desk checking logs or making sure everything is secure. The hostel students come and go, but mostly it's just us keeping watch. There’s a small space where we keep our coats and a kettle for making coffee when it gets cold late at night. The chairs aren't the most comfortable, but they do the job. We don’t have a lot of visitors at three in the morning, which is fine by us. Sukrali has its own rhythm at night. You hear the occasional car or a stray dog, but that’s about it. We’ve been at this location for a bit now, and we know the layout like the back of our hand. It isn't a flashy office with modern furniture. It’s more of a practical place for someone who needs to be awake while the rest of the world isn't. We just focus on our duty and wait for the morning shift to arrive so we can go home. It’s honest work and it keeps the lights on. Sometimes the night feels long, but we always manage to stay busy with the checks and our usual routine.
