Indian Hand Fabs

Our workplace, Indian Hand Fabs, is situated in 108, Jan Pratindhi Appt in Sector-28, Gurgaon. It’s an apartment complex, so it doesn't really look like a factory or a big shop from the outside. We are right in the middle of a residential area in Haryana. Working out of an apartment has its own quirks, like making sure we don't bother the neighbors too much when we are moving boxes around. We have rolls of fabric and samples tucked into different corners of the rooms. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze sometimes, but we’ve figured out a system that works for us. There’s a kitchen where we make tea about five times a day. We don't have any fancy mission statements or corporate goals pinned to the walls. We just have our order sheets and calendars. Sector-28 is a decent area, quite central, so it’s easy for us to get around. Most of the people working here have been with us for a long time. We know each other’s families and what’s going on in their lives. It’s more like a small community than a cold office. We spend the day checking the quality of the fabrics and making sure everything is packed correctly. It’s repetitive work, but we find things to talk about to pass the time. It’s a simple life here in the apartment and we like it.
