Hotel Swaran House

Running this hotel in Rajiv Nagar isn't always easy but it's what we do every day. We're right here at 473, and the street outside usually gets pretty busy by ten in the morning. People come in and out, some stay for a night after work and others are just passing through Gurgaon for something else. We keep the rooms ready and try to make sure everything works like it should. Sometimes the power goes out for a bit, or the water pressure is a little low, but we fix it as fast as we can. It’s a simple place. My desk is usually covered in papers and old registers because I still like writing things down by hand. It feels more real that way. The neighborhood has changed a lot over the years, more buildings and more cars everywhere you look now. We see a lot of regular faces, people who know where the light switches are without asking. We don't have a big fancy lobby with marble floors or anything like that. Just some chairs and a fan that clicks a little when it’s on high. We spend most of our time just making sure the beds are made and the keys are where they belong. It's a lot of walking up and down the stairs. Sometimes the tea is late, but we always get it to the room eventually. It is just us doing our thing.
