American Express

We spend most of our time here at D-304 Irwo Rail Vihar, right in Sector 57, Gurgaon. It is a busy place, mostly people dealing with credit cards and travel stuff all day long for American Express. Sometimes the air conditioner makes a weird noise, but we just get on with it. The office is tucked away in a residential-looking spot, which makes it feel a bit different from those glass buildings in Cyber City. We have a lot of computers and desks piled with folders. Most of us arrive by nine and the tea lady comes around ten, which is the highlight for some. There is a lot of talking on phones. People call about their accounts or some issue they had at a shop, and we try to figure it out by looking through the screens. The stairs can get a bit dusty if the cleaner is late, but that is just how it is. It is not some fancy corporate movie set. We just do the work that needs doing. Sometimes it gets loud when everyone is on a call at once. We know the neighbors around Rail Vihar quite well by now. It’s just a regular workplace where people drink too much coffee and wait for the weekend. The desks are a bit cluttered with personal photos or old pens that don't work. We have been here for a while now, seeing Sector 57 change around us as more houses went up.
