Accenture is a name people know, but here in Gurgaon, it’s just where we go every morning. We don’t have a specific building number listed here, just Gurgaon, Haryana, India. It’s a huge area with so many offices that it all starts to look the same after a while. I take the bus or a cab and hope the traffic isn't too bad on the highway. Inside, it’s all rows of desks and people with headsets on. We eat lunch in a hurry most days. The windows look out onto other tall buildings and a lot of construction dust. It’s a busy life. We aren't doing anything glamorous, just handling the tasks that come through our screens. Sometimes we stay late when a project is due, and the office gets quiet except for the sound of typing. The air is always cold because of the heavy air conditioning. We talk about the weekend or where to get the best food nearby. Haryana is hot and dry, so we drink a lot of water. It’s a big company, sure, but on the ground level, it’s just us trying to get through the day's emails. We don't have any fancy mission statements on the walls, just some notices about the cafeteria menu or holiday shifts. It’s a job like any other in this part of India. We have a small break room but the coffee isn't great. Most of us bring our own from home in thermoses. It’s just how it is.
