Down at 87/88 in the Focal Point area, it’s all about the machines and the noise. Steamz Agro India Pvt. Ltd. is right in the middle of it all. We work with agricultural products, so the air usually smells like grain or whatever we happen to be processing that week. The floor is concrete and stays cold in the winter, but in the summer, the whole building feels like an oven. We’ve got large boilers and steaming equipment, which is where the name comes from, I suppose. It’s not a place for suits and ties; we’re usually covered in a bit of dust or grease by lunchtime. We spend our days watching the gauges and making sure everything is running at the right temperature. Sometimes a belt snaps or a valve leaks, and we have to stop everything to fix it ourselves. We don't have a big HR department or fancy meetings. We just gather around the main desk and talk about what needs to get done for the day. The trucks arrive early in the morning, and we try to get them loaded and out as fast as possible so they don’t block the entrance for the next guy. It’s a lot of repetitive work, but it’s important for getting the crops processed. We just keep our heads down and do the work, year after year, in this industrial patch. It’s just what we do here.
