You can find Visveswara Spices over at 19- Nallapadu, in Guntur Town 1. We are right there in the thick of the town's spice trading area. Our building is a simple structure where we handle all kinds of local spices. There’s no big sign or flashing lights. It’s just a place of work. We have piles of sacks everywhere, mostly filled with turmeric, coriander, and other things. The floors are concrete and we have a few old fans that keep the air moving. It gets very hot in Guntur, so we try to get most of the heavy work done in the early morning. We aren't a big corporation with many layers of management. It is just a few of us making sure the orders are filled and the quality is okay. We talk to the traders and the transport guys all day. Nallapadu is a busy area, especially when the harvest comes in. We’ve been in this spot for a good while and we know the rhythms of the market. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit and talk until it comes back on. It’s a very grounded way to work. We don't use any complicated systems. We just write things down in our ledgers and keep track of everything ourselves. It's honest work and it keeps us connected to the local community here in Guntur. The days are long but the work is steady and keeps us going.
