Our place is on Karl Marx Road in Arundalpet. It’s been our base for Swastiks Masala Pickels & Food Products for quite some time. We spend our days dealing with spices and heavy glass jars. The smell of vinegar and chili is always in the air here, and sometimes it makes you sneeze. It’s a bit of an old building, number 4-16-37, but it works for what we do. We aren't a huge factory with robots, just regular people working with our hands. Mixing the masalas takes time and patience, and you have to get the proportions right by feel. Pickles need to sit and soak in the oil, so there’s always a lot of waiting involved in our schedule. The road outside is usually crowded with traffic, especially in the afternoons. Sometimes it’s hard to get the deliveries out on time because of the narrow streets and the cows wandering around. We don't really do fancy advertising or have a website. Most people find us because they live nearby or heard about our pickles from a relative. It's a family-run kind of feel, even if we are a private limited company on paper. We just focus on making sure the spices are ground properly and the pickles don't spoil in the heat. There’s always someone cleaning or tightening a lid. It gets really hot in the summers, especially with all the spices making the air heavy. But we’ve grown used to it over the years. We just keep our heads down and do the work. Arundalpet is a good spot for us.
