Sri Sai Laxmi Flower Decorations

Our little shop is over at Door No 65/9/1 on Street No 2/2 Lane in Arundalpet. We are quite close to the Post Office, so it is a landmark people use to find us in Guntur. Mostly, the place smells like fresh flowers because we have bundles of them coming in every morning. We spend our days sitting on the floor or at small benches, threading garlands and tying bouquets together. There are petals everywhere, and we are always sweeping them up. We do decorations for all sorts of things, like small house pujas or bigger functions in the neighborhood. It is a lot of work with wire, tape, and scissors. Sometimes the thorns on the roses poke our fingers, but you get used to that after a few years. We don't have a big catalog; people just tell us what they need and what colors they like. The lane is narrow, so it gets a bit crowded when we are loading the flowers into the rickshaws. It is a simple life centered around the seasons of flowers. Some months are very busy with weddings, and we barely sleep. Other times, we just sit and make simple garlands for the local temple. We have been in Arundalpet for a long time, and everyone knows where to find the flower people. It is just a small business that works with what nature provides.
