Shiridi Sai Kirana Store

We've been here on the Atchampet - Sattenapalle Road for a while now. Krosur is a quiet place most of the time, but the road stays busy with people traveling between the towns. The shop is just a regular kirana store. We open up pretty early because that’s when the milk comes in and people are heading out to work. It gets a bit dusty being right on the main road, so there is always cleaning to do. We keep the usual things people need like pulses, oils, soaps, and snacks for the kids. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside on the steps for a bit. It is not a huge place, just a couple of rooms filled with bags and boxes. My family helps out when it gets crowded in the evenings. You see the same faces every day, neighbors mostly. We know who likes which brand of tea or who is looking for a specific lentil. It is just how life goes here in Krosur. The fans hum all day to keep the heat away. We don’t have fancy displays or anything like that. Things are just stacked where they fit. If someone needs something we don’t have, we try to get it by the next week. It’s just a simple way of making a living on this stretch of road. We've seen the road get paved and widened over the years, but the shop stays mostly the same.
