Reddy General Store

We’ve been here at number 93 for a while now. If you’re taking the road from Mamillapalli toward Modukuru, you’ve probably passed by our front door. It’s just a simple place. My family helps out with the stocking and the cleaning. We try to keep the basic stuff people in Ponnur need daily. Sometimes the weather gets really hot and dusty on this road, but we stay open regardless. We get all sorts of folks stopping in. Farmers coming from the fields, or kids looking for a quick snack on their way home. It isn't a fancy shop with bright lights. Most of the time, I’m just behind the counter checking the inventory or talking to a neighbor who stopped by for rice. We keep things pretty straightforward. There’s always work to do, like unloading the bags that arrive on the trucks or sweeping the front step. It’s a quiet life mostly, just managing the shop and making sure the shelves aren't empty. We know most of the people who walk through that door by their first names. That’s just how it is around here. We don't have a big team or anything, just us working every day to keep the store running. Sometimes the supply truck is late and we have to wait around, but we manage. It's a decent living and it keeps us busy from morning until we close up at night.
