Modern Rice Mill

Modern Rice Mill is over at 3-2-157 on the Annadevarapeta Road in Vegeshwarapuram. Despite the name "Modern," we've actually been around for quite a while. The mill is where all the work happens, turning raw paddy into the rice people cook at home. It’s a loud place when the machines are running, and the whole building vibrates a bit. We spend a lot of time maintaining the equipment because if something breaks, everything stops. There’s always a fine layer of husks and dust everywhere, no matter how much we sweep. Farmers bring their loads in big trucks, and we have to coordinate where everything goes. It’s a lot of manual labor, hauling sacks and checking the moisture levels. We have a small office near the gate where we handle the paperwork, but we’re usually out on the floor. The heat can get pretty bad in the afternoons, but that’s just life at a mill. We don't do much advertising. People know us because of where we are and what we’ve been doing for years. It’s a straightforward business. We process the grain, bag it up, and send it out. We just try to keep the machines humming and the workers busy so we can finish the day's work before dark. It’s hard work, but it’s what keeps this area fed and moving along.
