Our office is situated at F-1 Site-V in the UPSIDC area of Kasna, Surajpur. It is a very industrial part of the world and there is always some construction going on nearby. The roads can be a bit rough, especially after it rains and the mud gets everywhere. Inside the building, things are pretty functional. We have large tables for looking at drawings and a few rooms for the different teams. It is not a place with shiny floors or modern art on the walls. We have calendars from three years ago still hanging up sometimes. The air is often filled with the sound of fans and the distant hum of other factories. We spend a lot of time on the phone coordinating with people at different sites. Most of us bring our own lunch boxes and eat together in the small pantry area. There is no canteen here. We don't have a dress code, so most people just wear sturdy shoes and shirts that can handle a bit of dirt. It is a lot of logistics and technical details that we deal with every day. Sometimes we have to go out to the sites in the heat which is the toughest part. It is just a regular group of people working on power projects in a dusty industrial estate. We keep it simple and focus on the tasks we have.
