Mahaveer Rice & General Mills

We’ve been running Mahaveer Rice & General Mills here in Village Nangal for a good while now. It’s right on Rampur Road, not far from the Shiv Mandir. If you're coming from Phillaur, you know how busy the roads get around harvest time. We mostly spend our days dealing with the local farmers who bring in their grain. It’s a lot of dust and noise, but that’s just how a mill works. The machines are usually running from early morning. We take the paddy, clean it up, and get it ready. It’s not fancy work, but people around Jalandhar need their rice. My family has been involved in this kind of thing for years. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to wait around, or a belt breaks on one of the rollers. We just fix it and keep going. The building itself is just a regular mill structure, nothing special to look at. We keep our doors open for the tractor drivers and workers. It gets hot in the summer, but we have a spot in the shade. We just try to get the milling done right so the bags are filled and moved out on time. There's always something to sweep or a pile of husks to move. It's just a regular life here in Nangal. We don't bother with fancy offices because the real work happens out on the floor with the grain. It’s a noisy life but it’s ours.
