About Jeevan Steel Works – Metals & Minerals in Goraya
Our workshop is right near the Shiv Mandir in Phillaur, so we hear the bells every morning when we’re getting things ready. Being in Ward No. 06 means we are pretty close to the Post Office too, which makes it easy for mail. It’s a loud place here, honestly. There is always the sound of grinding or someone hitting metal with a hammer. We get a lot of iron dust on our clothes by the end of the day, and the floor is never really clean no matter how much we sweep it. It’s hard work, especially when the weather gets really hot in the summer and the metal feels like it’s burning. We do all sorts of odd jobs, mostly for the local folks who need something fixed or built for their homes. The equipment we use is old but it still works fine if you know how to handle it. Sometimes the neighbors complain about the noise, but most of them are used to it by now. We take a long break for lunch because you need the rest after standing all morning. The shop isn't much to look at from the outside, just a big open space with a lot of heavy stuff lying around. We’ve been in this part of the district for years. It’s just how we make our way, one piece of steel at a time.
