Surajbala Devi Memorial Educational

This educational setup is based in Gorakhpur, specifically in the Mahadevapuram area. The address is 53E, near Kudaghat and Khorabazar. It’s a bit of a mouthful, but locals just know it as the memorial place for Surajbala Devi. We started this to honor her name and to give the people around here a place for learning. It is not a huge campus with big gates. It is more of a community-focused spot. We have been here in the 273008 zip code area for quite some time now. The building is simple and practical. We spend our days dealing with school-related things and talking to parents from the neighborhood. Gorakhpur is a place where people value education, so we try to fit into that. Sometimes the power goes out and we just have to wait it out or use the old backup, but that’s just life here. We don't try to act like we are some big-city institution. We are just local people running a memorial school. Most of our staff lives nearby, so we all know each other pretty well. It’s a friendly atmosphere, even if things get a little disorganized when there’s a big event or a holiday. We are just trying to keep the place running and make sure the students have what they need to learn. It’s steady work and we plan on staying right here in Soobabazar for the long haul. People often drop by just to say hello, which we don't mind at all.
