Shagun Art

Shagun Art is over at Plot No. C-310. We are near Maal Babu Ka Hatapurana in the Gorakhnath area of Gorakhpur. It’s a busy neighborhood. I spend my days surrounded by paints and boards. The smell of thinner is always in the air. You get used to it after a few years. Gorakhpur has its own way of being busy. There's always someone passing by the plot. The shop isn't very large. I have shelves filled with different brushes and pots of color. My clothes usually have a few paint spots on them. I don't mind. It shows I've been working. We do signs and some decorative stuff. People come in with an idea of what they want. I try to get the colors right. Sometimes the weather is too humid and the paint doesn't dry fast. Then I have to wait. It’s frustrating but you can't rush it. Near Maal Babu Ka Hatapurana, there’s always something happening. I see a lot of people every day. Gorakhnath is a good place for a shop like this. We have a small radio that plays old songs. It helps pass the time. I've been at this spot for quite a while now. The building is simple, just bricks and cement. It’s where I belong. I usually lock up when the sun goes down. The shadows get long and the street noise changes to evening sounds. I walk home tired.
