N.C. Academy

N.C. Academy is located in the Kusumhi Bazar area, right on the Motiram Road towards Rudrapur in Gorakhpur. It is a very busy part of the town with a lot of traffic and people moving about. The school sits near the market, so there is always the sound of horns and vendors in the background. We have been operating here for some time now. The building has several floors and the stairs are quite steep. Students come from the bazaar area and also from the villages further down the Motiram Road. In the morning, the entrance gets very congested with cycles and rickshaws. We have to tell the kids to be careful when they are crossing the street. Inside, it is a bit calmer. We have our desks and chairs and the usual school supplies. The teachers are mostly local people who have been with us for years. We don't have a big playground, so the kids usually just hang out in the corridors during their breaks. When it rains, the area around Kusumhi Bazar can flood a bit, so we sometimes have to close early. It is just a regular school in a busy Gorakhpur neighborhood. We don't try to be anything we are not. We just provide a place for kids to sit and study their books. Most parents here work in the market and they appreciate having a school so close by.
