Our small setup is right on Char Phatak Road in the Mohaddipur area. It is a very busy part of Gorakhpur, so there is always something going on outside our door. We started this place because we wanted to have a steady spot to work from in our own neighborhood. The rooms are basic, with plain white walls and some old wooden benches that have been here since we opened. We don't spend money on expensive decorations because that is not what we are about. Every morning, I walk down to the shop to buy some chalk and markers. The walk from the main crossing is not too long, which is good for people coming from different parts of the city. During the monsoon, the road gets quite muddy, and we have to be careful about people tracking dirt onto the rugs. We just have a simple routine of opening up, doing the tasks for the day, and locking up when the sun goes down. There is no big corporate office behind us, just a few local people trying to make things work. We often share a kettle of tea in the afternoons while we sit near the window. It is nothing fancy, but it is our place and we have grown fond of the squeaky ceiling fans and the sound of the traffic outside.
