Down in Lohiya Ward in Gondia, you’ll find the office of M S P T Mase Ass Structure Engineernagpur. It’s a mouthful of a name, but we mostly just think of ourselves as the people who look at buildings and make sure they’re going to stay standing. Our space is filled with big rolls of blueprints and technical drawings. You can’t walk very far without bumping into a drafting table or a stack of site reports. Gondia is a bit quieter than the big cities, which we appreciate because engineering work takes a lot of concentration. We spend our mornings going over calculations and our afternoons sometimes out at different sites checking on progress. The office doesn't have much in the way of decoration, unless you count the maps of the local area pinned to the walls. We wear comfortable clothes because we’re often moving around or heading out into the heat. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that; people usually find us because they saw our work somewhere else or a neighbor told them about us. We take our time with the drawings because you can't rush things when it comes to structures. It’s a lot of responsibility, but we just take it one day at a time, making sure the lines on the paper match up with what's happening on the ground. We’re just regular folks doing technical work in our corner of Lohiya Ward.
