Cipla

We are based at the Verna Industrial Estate in Verna. It’s a huge area filled with all sorts of manufacturing plants. Our facility for Cipla is quite large, but it feels like a small community once you get inside. There are hundreds of us working here in different sections. The sound of machinery is pretty much constant, which you get used to after a couple of days. We spend our shifts following strict protocols to make sure every batch of medicine is produced correctly. It’s a lot of standing and moving around, so we all wear comfortable shoes. The estate itself is quite green in some parts, which is a nice change from the dusty city streets. We have a canteen where everyone gathers for meals, and it’s usually the loudest part of the day. Working here in Verna means we are a bit far from the main towns, so many of us take the staff buses. It’s a very practical, hands-on environment. We don't have fancy office carpets or quiet meeting rooms. It’s all about the production lines and the warehouse. We deal with the heat and the humidity of Goa every day, but the factory is kept at a controlled temperature for the products. It’s an honest day’s work. We don't really do much in the way of self-promotion. We just focus on the job at hand and making sure we meet our quotas.
