Goa State Aidscontrol Society

We operate the Goa State Aids Control Society from a spot in Goletem, Saligao. Saligao is a really pretty village in the Bardez area of Goa. You’ll see the big church nearby if you’re driving through. Our office isn’t anything special to look at, just a functional space where we do our daily work. We focus on health awareness and helping people in the community. It’s mostly about talking to folks and giving out information. We have a lot of pamphlets and posters around the office, but the real work happens when people come in to talk. The atmosphere in Saligao is relaxed, but we stay busy. We have a small staff and we’ve all known each other for a long time. It feels more like a community center than a government society sometimes. We don't have a big budget for fancy things, so we make do with what we have. The floors are tiled, and we have a few ceiling fans to keep the air moving. On some days, we travel out to other parts of Bardez to meet people. We like being in Goletem because it's central for the people we serve. It’s just a normal day for us, filing reports and making sure the health programs are actually reaching the people who need them. We try to be approachable and helpful without any of that corporate stuff people hate.
