Dhekne'S Classic

This is our place in Verla specifically in Freitas Waddo. It is a traditional house in the Parra area of Bardez. We have kept it pretty much the way it has always been. It is not one of those modern hotels with a lot of glass and steel. We have got the old Goan feel here. Most of our time is spent keeping the place tidy and looking after the rooms. We do a lot of the maintenance ourselves. If a tap leaks we fix it. If the garden grows too much we trim it back. It is a quiet neighborhood with a lot of trees around. You can hear the birds in the morning. We do not have a big staff. It is just us and a couple of helpers. We spend our mornings checking in on anyone staying here and making sure things are comfortable. It is a simple life. We do not have a fancy website or a big marketing team. People usually find us by word of mouth or by just driving through the village. The house has a lot of character even if some of the floor tiles are a bit worn down after all these years. We like it that way because it feels like a real home. We just try to make sure everyone who stops by feels welcome. The kitchen usually has a pot of tea on the stove and the dogs sleep in the shade.
