Being located right at Railway Road near the Old Bus Stand means we see a lot of traffic. Seth Batteries is tucked away at number 13, and it’s usually full of heavy lead blocks and the smell of acid. We’ve been here a long time, dealing with car batteries and those big ones people use for their homes when the power goes out. It’s a greasy job sometimes. We spend a lot of time testing cells and checking if a battery can still hold a charge or if it’s just dead weight. The old bus stand area is always dusty, so we are constantly wiping down the counters. People come in frustrated because their car won’t start or their fans stopped working during a heatwave. We just take a look, see what’s wrong, and tell them if it needs a recharge or a replacement. It’s straightforward work. We don’t use big words or try to sell things people don’t need. If your battery is fine, we tell you it’s fine. The shop isn't big, but we have enough space for the chargers and the new stock that comes in every week. It’s a lot of heavy lifting, moving those units around, but it keeps us fit I guess. Just look for number 13 on the main road and you will see all the black cases stacked up outside.
