Rajat Vastu & Vegetable Bhandar

Rajat Vastu & Vegetable Bhandar is in Dilshad Extn at Shalimar Garden, specifically B-154. It is an interesting mix of things we have here. On one side you have got the fresh vegetables that come in from the mandi every morning, and on the other, there are items related to Vastu. It makes for a very specific smell in the shop, like earth and incense mixed together. We get up very early to get the best produce because if you are late, you just get the leftovers nobody wants. The crates are heavy and often damp. We spend a lot of time sorting through greens and tomatoes to make sure the bad ones are tossed out. Customers are picky, and they like to touch everything before they buy it, which we understand. The Vastu side of the business is quieter. People come in with questions about their homes or looking for a specific stone or figure. We are not experts who give long speeches; we just show them what we have on the shelves. The shop is located in a residential part of Shalimar Garden, so we see the same faces every single day. We know who wants the spicy chilies and who is looking for a new brass bowl. It is a lot of work keeping the floor clean with all the mud that comes in on people's shoes. We just keep at it until the sun goes down and we can rest.
