We are based in the Ram Puri area of Chander Nagar. Our daily routine is pretty much the same every day. We start early in the morning when the water trucks arrive and we begin organizing the cans. The streets around Chander Nagar can be narrow, so we have to be careful with the deliveries. It’s a lot of physical labor, moving heavy containers from the shop to the vehicles and then to the customers' doorsteps. We’ve been in Ram Puri for a good while, so we know most of the lanes and the people who live here. The shop isn't anything special to look at, just a practical space for storage. We don't do any big advertising. People just see our guys out in the neighborhood and ask for water. We try to stay on schedule, but sometimes the heat or the rain slows things down. It’s a simple business of getting water to where it is needed. We spend our afternoons checking the empties and making sure everything is ready for the next day's rush. There are a few of us here who handle the lifting and the driving. We just focus on the daily tasks and making sure the cans are handled properly. It’s been our way of working for years in this part of town and it seems to work fine. Our trucks are out in the sun most of the day, and we take turns handling the different routes across Chander Nagar. It is a tiring job but we are used to the rhythm of it now.
