Our shop is at 23, Naya Ganj. If you’ve ever visited Naya Ganj, you know it’s a packed area with narrow lanes and lots of movement. Pasondia Cables is right in the thick of it. The building is old, and our space is filled from floor to ceiling with rolls of different types of cables and wires. It smells like rubber and copper in here. We spend most of our time winding wire, cutting it to length, and helping customers who squeeze through the door. It’s a small operation, and sometimes it feels like the walls are closing in because of all the stock we keep. We don’t have a fancy computer system for everything; a lot of it is still written down in big ledgers. The street outside is always noisy with carts, bikes, and people shouting, so we have to speak up to be heard. We’ve been at this location for a long time and know most of the other shopkeepers on the block. Usually, someone is making tea nearby and the smell wafts into the shop. We don’t have much room for a break area, so we just eat at the main counter when there’s a gap between customers. It’s a simple business of buying and selling cables, and we don't try to make it sound like more than it is. We just show up, open the shutters, and see who needs wire that day. It’s a bit chaotic but it’s our daily reality.
