Neelakshi Boutique

This boutique is located at D-309 in the Lajpatnagar area of Sahibabad, Ghaziabad. Unlike the salons, we focus on stitching and tailoring clothes for the women in the neighborhood. Our room is usually filled with rolls of fabric, different colored threads, and the constant hum of the sewing machines. We have been in this 201005 spot for some time now, and many of the local ladies bring their suits and blouses here to be made. There are measuring tapes draped over our shoulders and pins kept in small boxes on the tables. It’s a bit messy sometimes with fabric scraps on the floor, but that is just part of the work. We spend a lot of time looking closely at the needles and making sure the stitches are straight. We don't have any big displays, just a few finished pieces hanging up so people can see the work. It’s a quiet kind of business where we just focus on the measurements and the cutting of the cloth. People come in with their own ideas or a piece of cloth they bought at the market, and we just do our best to put it together. It’s practical work that requires a lot of patience. The shop is just a simple space in a residential street, and we like the steady pace of it. We take our time to get the fit right for everyone who visits.
