Our place is tucked away inside the NTPC Dadri campus in Vidyut Nagar. If you know the area, you know it’s a bit far from the main Ghaziabad city traffic. Being at B-484 means we are part of the township life here. It’s quite different from a city hospital because everything is slower and more spread out. The roads are lined with trees and you see the same faces every morning at the tea stall or the gate. We have our equipment and our rooms set up for whoever comes in. Usually, it’s people from the plant or their families who stop by. The building is functional. It’s got that specific government-built feel to it with the heavy doors and the painted walls. Sometimes the monkeys around Dadri get a bit bold and hang out near the entrance. We just ignore them and go about our business. The phone rings a lot and we deal with the paperwork as it comes. It’s a quiet life here compared to Delhi. We don’t have those massive waiting rooms with shiny floors. It’s just a practical space for medical stuff. In the evenings, the sun sets over the cooling towers in the distance and things get even quieter. It’s just how it is working in a power plant colony. We stay busy with the charts and the patients and that’s enough for us.
