Khare Trading Company

Working out of Vasant Kunj at 145/A-9 is mostly about moving boxes and checking lists. This place isn't a shop where you walk in to browse around. It is more like a hub where stuff comes in and then goes out again. We deal with all sorts of trading goods throughout the week. The office area has a desk that's always covered in papers and old pens that don't always work. The walls are a plain color and there is a small fan that rattles when it’s on high speed. We spend hours on the phone talking to suppliers or waiting for a delivery van to show up. Sometimes the traffic in Vasant Kunj makes everything late and we just have to wait. It gets dusty inside because of the crates being moved around all the time. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for the next load to arrive. It is just a small operation with a few of us trying to keep things organized. The door is usually left open to let some air in, but then the flies come in too. It’s not a very pretty place to look at, just a functional space for trading. We've been at this address for a few years and the neighbors know us as the people always loading trucks. It can be quite exhausting during the monsoon when the rain makes the ground muddy and we have to be careful with the boxes. We usually close up once the last manifest is signed.
