Kananeya General Store

Working near a metro station in a place like Ghaziabad means you are always on your toes. Kananeya General Store is at 45, Vaishali Sector 4. Being so close to the station, we see thousands of people passing by every single day. Most of them are in a rush to catch a train or get home after a long shift. We keep the shop stocked with things they might need quickly. Cold drinks, chips, cigarettes, and bread are the big sellers. I don't have time for long conversations during the evening rush. It’s just 'give me this' and 'here is your change.' The shop itself is quite small, just a single room with stuff piled up. I’ve been here for a few years now. It’s a loud area because of the traffic and the metro announcements, but you get used to it. Sometimes I wish it was a bit quieter, but the location is why we have customers. We don't do any marketing or have a big sign. Just the name on the front and the items in the window. It’s a lot of standing around and waiting for the next wave of commuters. I try to keep the fridge cold because that’s what people want most in this Ghaziabad heat. It’s a basic life, just running a store and making sure we don't run out of milk or water bottles. I stay until the last train comes in.
