Jagmohan Singh

I’m Jagmohan Singh and my spot is number 40 in the Ghaziabad District Court Compound. It’s one of those places that never really stays quiet during the week. You’ve got lawyers, clerks, and families all moving around between the different blocks. My office is pretty basic, just a few chairs and a lot of paper folders. I’ve spent many years here, watching the court compound change and get more crowded. Usually, I'm at my desk by nine. People come to me when they have issues they can't solve on their own, usually involving some kind of official form or court matter. It's a lot of waiting around sometimes, which is just how things go here. I try to be clear about what can and can't be done so nobody’s time is wasted. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but the work is what matters more than how the room looks. There are plenty of other offices nearby, but we all just mind our own business and get through the day. Sometimes we grab a quick lunch from the vendors outside the gates. It is a very practical way to live. We just deal with the files and the people as they arrive. There is always someone looking for help with a stamp or a signature. It keeps me moving from one thing to the next without much of a break until the afternoon. That's just how life is in the compound.
